GET YOUR YOUTH PROTECTION VIDEOS HERE! "Hello Crow River District members!

As you all know Youth Protection is a very important part of Scouting. The council recognizes this now more than ever, which is why they have all of the Youth Protection DVDs available for check out from the council office free of charge. The only obstacle you have now to getting those videos is actually getting down to the council office to check it out. Considering how geographically challenged our district is, I've taken the initiative to put those same DVDs on the internet for downloading. I have contacted Marie Rice at the council office and she is completely on board with the idea. In fact the council is working on something similar. So there is no need to worry about copyright infringement or other legal matters.

Now on to the technical matters.

What you will need:
  1. a high speed internet connection
  2. a blank DVD disc
  3. a DVD-RW disc drive
  4. DVD burning software
To put these DVDs on the internet I had to break the files into pieces, so below the title of each DVD there will be links to all of the files that make up that DVD. You will need to download ALL of the files. They are large files, so I don't recommend doing this if you have dial-up internet. One of the files will be an executable, which means the file name will end in .exe. When you click on the link below you will be taken to the download page. You will need to enter the 4 character code into the box in the upper right and click "download file." After that you will be taken to another page where you will have the opportunity to go with a premium download or wait 45 seconds for the free download. Simply wait until the timer runs out and a button saying "Regular download" will appear, click that one. After you click the download button you should get a popup asking if you want to save the file and where you want o save it to. Select the location and click "Save." When you download the files make sure you put them all in the same directory. After you have downloaded all of the files for a DVD go to the folder containing the files and double click the executable. You will then get an install page telling you that you are about to install a file to your hard drive, click install. What it will do then is combine all the parts into one big file. The end result is an ISO file that you need to burn to a DVD so that you can play it in your standard DVD player. You will need some kind of DVD writing software such as Roxio or Nero. Nero has a free version available at http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-free.php
